Zirtue Bill Pay Policy

1. Purpose
This Bill Pay Policy (the “Policy”) establishes the rules, limitations, and responsibilities governing use of Zirtue’s bill payment services (the “Bill Pay Services”). The purpose of this Policy is to ensure that all transactions facilitated through Zirtue Pay are authorized, legitimate, compliant, and strictly limited to bill payment activity, and to prevent misuse of the Services for shopping, retail purchases, peer-to-peer transfers, or other non-bill-related purposes.
2. Scope
This Policy applies to:
All Zirtue users and customers
Approved billers and payees
Business partners, vendors, and payment processors
Any individual or entity accessing or using the Bill Pay Services
This Policy operates in conjunction with Zirtue’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and any applicable program-specific agreements.
3. Policy Statement
Zirtue’s Bill Pay Services may be used solely to pay approved, legitimate bills.
The following activities are strictly prohibited:
Shopping or retail purchases
Purchasing goods or services unrelated to bill payment
Cash advances, peer-to-peer transfers, or personal spending
Any transaction not expressly authorized as a bill payment
Unauthorized or prohibited use may result in account suspension or termination, reversal of transactions, loss recovery, and potential legal or regulatory action.
4. Definitions
Bill Payment
A transaction intended to pay a verified bill, invoice, or obligation to an approved biller, utility provider, service provider, or payee designated or supported by Zirtue.
Approved Biller
A biller, merchant, or payee that has been authorized by Zirtue or its partners to receive bill payments through the Services.
Unauthorized Use
Any activity that falls outside the intended purpose of the Bill Pay Services, including but not limited to shopping, retail purchases, personal transfers, or attempts to disguise non-bill transactions as bill payments.
5. Authorized Use
Users may only use the Bill Pay Services to:
Pay approved bills to authorized billers
Submit transactions that are accurate, complete, and verifiable
Comply with all applicable laws, card network rules, and Zirtue policies
All bill payment transactions must be supported by accurate billing information and may be subject to verification or review.
6. Prohibited Use
Users must not:
Use the Services for shopping, retail, or personal purchases
Attempt to route funds to themselves or unrelated third parties
Misrepresent the nature of a transaction
Circumvent transaction controls or monitoring systems
Share account credentials or allow unauthorized access
Any attempt to manipulate, bypass, or evade Zirtue’s safeguards constitutes a material violation of this Policy.
7. Compliance and Monitoring
Zirtue maintains compliance programs designed to detect and prevent fraud, misuse, and regulatory violations. To support these efforts:
Transactions may be monitored, reviewed, delayed, or declined
Users may be required to provide additional information or documentation
Zirtue may conduct audits or investigations as permitted by law
Failure to cooperate with compliance reviews may result in account restrictions or termination.
8. Enforcement
Zirtue reserves the right to take appropriate action in response to suspected or confirmed violations, including:
Transaction reversal or cancellation
Temporary or permanent account suspension
Termination of access to the Services
Reporting to payment networks, regulators, or law enforcement
Enforcement actions may be taken without prior notice where required to mitigate risk or comply with legal obligations.
9. Amendments
Zirtue may modify this Policy from time to time. If material changes are made, Zirtue will provide notice through reasonable means, which may include email, in-app notification, or website posting.
Continued use of the Bill Pay Services after the effective date of an updated Policy constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
10. User Responsibilities
Users are responsible for:
Providing accurate, current, and complete billing information
Verifying payment amounts, billers, and due dates before submission
Maintaining the confidentiality of account credentials
Promptly reporting suspected unauthorized activity or errors
Users remain responsible for all transactions initiated through their accounts.
11. Data Privacy and Security
Zirtue protects personal and financial information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable law. Safeguards include:
Industry-standard encryption and secure transmission protocols
Restricted access to sensitive data
Ongoing monitoring for security threats
User information may be disclosed to third parties only as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, or with user consent.
12. Liability and Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
Zirtue is not responsible for errors resulting from inaccurate information provided by users or billers
Zirtue does not guarantee biller acceptance, posting times, or service availability
Zirtue is not liable for delays, errors, or failures caused by third-party billers, processors, networks, or financial institutions
The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind.
13. Fraud Prevention and Reporting
Zirtue actively monitors transactions for fraudulent, suspicious, or unusual activity. Users must report suspected fraud or unauthorized use immediately.
Confirmed fraud may result in:
Immediate suspension or termination
Loss recovery actions
Reporting to law enforcement or regulatory authorities
Fraud reports should be sent to privacy@zirtue.com.
14. Record Retention
Zirtue retains transaction and account records for a minimum of seven (7) years, or longer where required by law.
Records are securely stored and protected against unauthorized access, alteration, or deletion. Users may request access to their records subject to applicable legal requirements.
15. Third-Party Billers and Integrations
Zirtue partners with third-party billers, processors, and service providers to facilitate bill payments. Zirtue does not control and is not responsible for:
Biller service quality or billing disputes
Errors in bill amounts provided by billers
How or when billers apply received payments
Users should contact the relevant biller directly regarding billing issues.
16. Termination of Service
Zirtue may suspend or terminate access to the Bill Pay Services for violations of this Policy, the Terms of Service, or applicable law.
Termination may occur without prior notice in cases involving fraud, unauthorized use, or regulatory risk. Upon termination, outstanding obligations and legal responsibilities remain enforceable.

17. Acknowledgment and Acceptance
By accessing or using the Bill Pay Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Policy and all applicable terms and laws.
